News update: (03/06/05)

The popularity of the Derwent Valley Heritage Way continues. Many people continue to walk stretches either on their own or as part of a plan to complete the whole length in stages.

Jarrold have published a guide book which describes the route in 10 stages. It contains maps, pictures and descriptions of highlights and is available from bookshops at £11.99 or for £8.39 through Amazon.co.uk here

Interpretation signs are being provided by local groups where there are noteworthy sites or events. The latest are at Ladybower and in Milford and Belper. Part of the route passes through the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site which now has its own web site accessible from the related sites page.

Why not come and stay for a few days? Accommodation can be found through www.visitderbyshire.co.uk or try one of the search engines for a wider choice.

The Trust supports the use of public transport. Trains arrive at Derby and Matlock and there are good bus links to various parts of the Way. Bus timetables can be found at www.derbysbus.net so you can continue from the rail links or plan a circular walk.

There is so much to see along the Way: historic houses and mills, wildlife, the river, geological features, museums…the Map of the Way on this site shows many of them.

So come and visit one of the most beautiful and interesting parts of England!
