To mark the launch of the Derwent Valley Heritage Way the Ramblers Association and Derbyshire County Council Countryside Service invite you to join them on a number of guided walks along Derbyshire's latest long distance walk.

Saturday 5 April 2003 10am - 4 pm Celebrate the opening of the Heritage Way route by joining a Countryside Service ranger and walk the final 6.5 miles from Derby bus depot to Shardlow . Please bring a packed lunch. Meet Shardlow Heritage Centre car park at 9.30am. You will then be taken to Derby to start the walk. Cost £1 adults 50p concessions. Sunday 6 April 2003 10am Meet Rowsley Old Station car park (grid ref. SK2575-6595). It's a morning only walk so please bring a drink for a short stop. It will be 5-6 miles in length. Rowsley Sidings, Nanny Goat Crossing and Tinkersley will be passed through though not necessarily in this order. Please contact Charles Wildgoose of Derbyshire Dales Ramblers tel. no. 01629-733198.

Saturday 19 April 2003 10am Meet at the District Council car park in Hathersage (grid ref SK2315-8140) near the swimming pool. It's a six to six and a half miles walk - morning only. Please bring a drink for a short stop. The route will follow the Derwent to the south of Hathersage and pass Padley Chapel too. Sunday 4 May 2003 10.30am - 4.00pm Join a Countryside Service ranger to learn more about the Heritage Way route and the World Heritage Site. Return to the start by train. Please bring a packed lunch. Cost £1 adults and 50p concessions plus train fare. Meet Ambergate Railway Station car park.grid ref (SK 349 516). Contact 01629 823204 for further details.

For all the above walks walking boots are recommended, please also bring suitable clothing including waterproofs.
